An Early Childhood Development Center
Where Families Come First

We believe one of the most important decisions a parent can make is choosing the right early childhood program for their child. Research indicates that the first three years of a child's life are more critical to a child's development than ever imagined. Therefore, we value your decision and are committed to ensuring that every child receives a high quality early childhood education. It is our objective to address the individual needs of each child enrolled in our program and establish a responsive relationship with each family.

Facts about our Center:

  •            National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accredited since 2001.  Our program is proud to have earned NAEYC Accreditation – the mark of quality for early childhood education programs. Our accreditation by NAEYC shows that our program meets the 10 NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards.
  •             4 classrooms: Infants, Toddler I, Toddler II, and Preschool (six weeks to five years of age) – Children are placed and advance based on development level, not on arbitrary dates.
  •             Excellent teacher/child ratios: Infants 1:4 ratio, Toddler I 1:4 ratio, Toddler II 1:6 ratio, and Preschool 1:10 ratio
  •             Highly Educated Staff:  At least 75% of lead teachers are required to have a B.A. degree in early childhood education or closely related field. 50% of assistant teachers have a minimum of a CDA in early childhood development or are enrolled in a college program in early childhood education or closely related field.
  •              Creative Curriculum:  Our curriculum results in a collaborative relationship between teacher and family to promote emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
  •     Flexible Enrollment:  Parents can choose a 2 day program, 3 day program or 5 day program resulting in availability of full time care, part time care* and drop in care.
  •              Meals:  The center provides meals and snacks exceeding recommended daily nutrition standards.
  •             Hours:  7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, year round. SDFC is only closed for ten major holidays during the year.

*       Part time hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Drop in care is subject to availability in each classroom. A registration fee must be paid prior to using drop in care. Children currently enrolled in the program and siblings will be given priority for drop in care. In addition, children up to the age of 6 can be accepted for drop in care.

Enrolling:

An initial tour is recommended to view the overall facility and a second visit is recommended to have the older toddler and preschool-aged children sit in during classroom activities.  Welcome packages are provided to each new family. In addition, we recommend that parents bring in their infant prior to starting care to begin the familiarization process. This will also provide you an opportunity to get to know our infant teachers and ask questions and our teachers an opportunity to meet your child.
